Set up Avirt Mail

Set up Avirt Mail

Avirt Drop Box Method (recommended)

Avirt is a relaying mechanism that sends and receives emails from external email accounts and passes them on to Bookmine's internal email system.

Using this mode Bookmine sends all outgoing email to the Avirt SMTP folder. Avirt sends these via the SMTP account you have configured under Avirt. Avirt automatically downloads email from the POP accounts you have configured in Avirt. Bookmine collects these incoming emails every time you click “Retrieve Only” or “Send and Retrieve” button on the main email form.

To set up Bookmine to use Avirt Drop box is a two stage process: First configure Avirt with your POP/SMTP details, then configure Bookmine to use Drop box and specify the location of the POS and SMTP drop box accounts.

Setting up Avirt mail drop box

Setup Avirt mail on your data server (Avirt mail is provided as part of the Bookmine installation package on the CD under Install Misc Files\Utilities\. The file is called AvirtMail42.exe) Avirt Mail has to be registered separately (it will work for 30 days after install. It costs about US$45). Read the installation instructions and follow the install setup instructions.

Configure Avirt with the details of the SMTP account you use and for incoming mail, with the POP account you use. Set up an incoming account called bookmine. The first time you successfully download mail Avirt will create a folder with this user name under the

..Program Files\Avirt\Mail\Mailbox folder. The folders of importance here are bookmine and SMTPOut. When configuring mail in Bookmine to use Drop box mode you select these folders as the Drop box POP and SMTP entries.

After installation start Avirt. When Avirt is running a blue icon is visible on the right hand side of the task bar. To view the Avirt Status window click on the blue icon. Right click on it and click “Advanced properties” to change setting such as the POP or SMTP address and many other properties.

When properly configured Avirt will read email from as many POP accounts as you wish and make them available to Bookmine. In addition, it will relay any mail sent from Bookmine using the SMTP account you have provided.
