You must have a connection to the Internet via

• a dialup connection using a modem to an Internet Service Provider (ISP),

• a direct connection or

• via a proxy on a local area network.

The first option will apply to the vast majority of private individuals with access to the Internet. If you are already connected by one of these methods you can currently browse the Web using a Web browser, send and receive email, and transfer files to servers on the Internet using FTP. If not you must first contact an Internet service provider (ISP) and arrange with them to get you connected.

Which ISP is best for my business?

Shop around for a good deal, noting that price is only one criteria to judge value by. Many ISPs have an unlimited access option for a fixed monthly fee which is good value if you intend to use the Internet a lot. This option is ideal when you start to access the Internet as you can better determine how useful it will be to your business only after extensive time online.
