Priming a client for Disconnected Mode operation
Overview
Each time a data verification is carried out on the Server data a copy of the verified data is automatically copied (cached) to each client workstation that is enabled for disconnected mode operation, when the client next starts up. Once primed in this way clients are ready for disconnected mode operation if it is required during that session. Data corruption or working remotely from the server are reasons to operate in this mode. The data used is the latest verified data from the server.
Configuring/Enabling a client workstation for disconnected mode operation.
To configure a Client to prime it for Disconnected Mode Operation goto the Main Switchboard - User Options – Disconnected Mode command button. Tick the “Enable disconnected mode” option.
If you wish you can also tick the option to copy the messages file. This will allow you to read existing emails. New emails and emails downloaded from the Internet will not be posted back to the server. Enabling this function will also cause Bookmine to take longer to load after a verification.
Note: Bookmine will take longer (can be minutes) to startup after a data verification when disconnected mode is enabled on a client as the latest data files have to be copied to the client from the server. The time varies depending on network speed and the data file sizes.
