Publishing a catalogue in effect freezes its contents, preventing further additions or deletions unless explicitly reactivated by the user (requires entering an enabling password).
During output of a catalogue you are given the option to publish or republish the catalogue. Publishing results in the following:
Note: the modified section order is applied only when you publish a catalogue. Catalogues that are already published will not inherit changes to the section order unless they are Republished, an option available during output for any published catalogue. This prevents entry numbers changing from one output to the next. Publishing in effect freezes the section order and entry numbers, a desirable feature. If, however, you modify the section heading text, the new heading text is reflected in all subsequent outputs.
If the entry numbers are being used to track items in a hardcopy catalogue, republishing the catalogue after it has been sent to the printers may result in inconsistencies.
Note: You do not have to explicitly set the order again unless you wish to specify a different order or the catalogue being processed includes a section which has never been included before.
