BHT3000, BHT-7000 and BHT-8000 Series Hand held Terminals

NOTE: If you are using a Denso Data Logger to import counts into the stocktake you must ensure that the name of the StockTake contains  only alphanumeric characters. A name such as StockTakeJun2014 is fine whereas StockTake Jun/2014 will cause problems when you attempt to upload counts using the Denso upload utility. You will receive a message that says the file path is illegal.

BHT portable data terminals (PDT) from Denso can be used to scan multiple product codes and optionally, item counts, which can be imported into Bookmine via a Serial comms cable. This is much faster and more efficient than entering each count manually into BookMine. The computer used for uploading counts has to be configured to understand the precise format used by the BHT Data Terminal when it transmits the data to the computer. A transfer utility from Denso also has to be installed on the computer used for importing from the device. This is provided as part of the installation package but it has to be configured before it will operate properly. InfoMining will provide help on this matter.

CHECK the Date Time on the Denso device before entering counts.

Note: Check the data and time is correctly set in the Denso BHT device before recording counts. The format required by the Denso BHT8000 is yymmddhhnn   eg 0806211545 = 21/Jun/2008 at 15:45 . This format must be adhered to or the sales compensation process used in "live" stocktakes will not operate correctly and could greatly distort the final counts. Bookmine will warn you if you attempt to import counts where the imported date time is significantly different to the computer's system date and time.

Denso portable data terminals have to be configured to match the data formats expected by BookMine. When first bought these devices are blank, requiring an operating system and stocktake software program to be loaded on them before the data formats can be even configured via the user interface.

Configure the device to match data format expected by BookMine.

BookMine expects the portable data terminal to be configured to produce data files that have either 2 or 3 fields. The 2 field data files have rows with two values, a 13 digit product code and a Date/Time field. The 3 field data files have rows with three values, a 13 digit product code, an item count and a Date/Time (format yymmddhhnn). The device must be configured before it can be used to record counts. See the device’s user's manual for details.

To import data into BookMine from the BHT PDT proceed as follows:

Collect data counts

Import Counts into BookMine

Manually processing Records left the import queue

Records remaining in the import queue after import could not be matched by product code (EAN/ISBN) to any existing item in the active Stock Take or to any product in your main stock records. This can happen because of incorrect codes, damaged labels on goods, or the item has never been recorded in your inventory before. Examine the queue, item by item, and manually associate each item with existing Stock records or create new records to represent them. As each is manually associated the corresponding counts are imported into the Stock Take and the item is removed from the holding queue. Ideally, when you are finished the holding queue should be empty.
