Bookfind Online - Using within Bookmine
Previous Topic  Next Topic

This is just a quick overview to get started and contains a few hints that may speed up searches and help with bulk importing using BISAC files.

Bookfind Online (BFOL) must be configured before you can carry out searches and imports from Bookmine.

Searches of BFOL can be carried out from the Stock form BD command button or by folding any standard stock search to invoke the Bookfind search. When the standard Stock search form is displayed click on the Bookdata Search button. From here you can search the CD and/or BFOL.

In the examples below I will use The Sea by John Banville, to illustrate searches and results. There are currently 3 records that should be returned by searches.

Combined keyword searches - Most of the time you should search in the composite "Author, title,ISBN,Imprint" field as any combo of ISBN, words in title or author will give the desired results. Entering "The Sea Banville" or "Banville Sea" in this field will return the desired result. Also you can search using the barcode scanner or by manually entering an ISBN/EAN.

Author-Title code -Search Author-Title code. E.g. BANV-SEA in the Author Tile Code field will return the desired results.

Title field -Searches ANY Words in title. E.g. The Sea will return lots of books with the word Sea anywhere in the title.

Author - Search in Author field is exact Author ("Banville John" is OK, "Banville" is not.

BIC Category – Select from the drop down list to limit search to a BIC category.

Forthcoming/Recent - A new handy feature is Forthcoming/Recent searches. These must be used in conjunction with the other fields. E.g. to see all forthcoming titles in next 100 days enter 100 in the field and select a BIC category or author, etc.
