Template Based Importing -( Enterprise version only)

Users with a Bookmine Enterprise license can import inventory records from files of almost any regular format using the Template Based import functions. This enables the user to set up templates for almost any type of consistently formatted file to be imported, specifying the mapping of fields from the Source file to the target fields in Bookmine. In addition literal values (a constant numeric or charater value) can be specified as the source data which will be copied to the selected Target field in all the records in the target table. In this way the imported data can be tagged for subsequent tracking using department, Catalogue Section, keywords or any other target field.

Go to Main SWBD - Supply and Purchase Ordering - Import Records. If you have an Enterprise license the Template based Import functions will be available to you. This enables you to Setup Templates and use these to import listings supplied by suppliers.

In addition you can enhance any records that have been created as a result of Demand Based Invoicing, a feature also available only in the Enterprise version that creates Stock records on demand at the Point of Sale interface for items not already in your database.

Setup an Import Template- if not already defined

You hsve to set up a user defined import template before you can import records using a template. This only has to be done once for each unique source file type. In effect you are telling the computer the relationship between fields in the source file and fields in your Bookmine inventory and supplier records. Part of setting up a template is to define Field and Value Mappings.

Before importing make sure to read the note on how new Supply condition records inherit default properties from the Suppliers supply conditions record.

To start Template based importing click the Import Supplier Listing.. button and follow the prompts.

The import takes place in two stages:
