POS options can be accessed from several screens including the Main Switchboard – User Options – Setup POS and from the POS summary screen using the POS Options button.

It is up to each site to decide on the options that best suit their way of doing business.

Options that can be set:

• Prompt for operator code before each POS transaction – tick if you wish to track sales by operator and several operators share a terminal concurrently or in sequence. If a single operator is assigned to a terminal for the full duration of a session then this option could be left unticked. If you do not wish to track transactions by operator leave unticked.
• Allow users to specify alternate Shipping dates – this should be unticked as it provides a way for operators to change the shipping dates on transactions that can cause anomalies in daily or weekly totals. When set users can retrospectively change totals for periods in the past that may already have been accounted for. This option is only to be used in extraordinary circumstances by an administrator who knows the consequences.
• Allow users to specify alternate Payment dates – this should be unticked as it provides a way for operators to change the shipping dates on transactions that can cause anomalies in totals. • Use Custom header on Dockets – If you wish to display alternate text at the top of your dockets tick this option and follow the prompts. Make sure to test the results before putting into production.
• Use Custom Footer on Dockets – If you wish to display alternate text at the end of your dockets tick this option and follow the prompts. Make sure to test the results before putting into production. This could be useful to bring customers’ attention to special offers and promotions.

• Quick Add Department buttons:

• When adding items to an invoice at the POS interface you can select whether the compact or full version of the Item Select screen is displayed. The compact version is ideal for stores where all stock items are already recorded in the database. The full version has programmable quick add department buttons that are ideal for adding items by department to an invoice that are not already catalogued in the inventory records.

• Prompt operator if item being sold is on hold and it is the last copy. This prevents items on hold not been taqken off hold when a customer collects a book but does not identify themselves as the person who has it on hold. The operator can discreetly ask if they have the tiem on hold so that it is taken off hold as part of the sale.
• Do not allow Sales to be partially paid out. If this option is set it requires a password or a person with operator sufficient credentails to override. Once a payment loop is entered the entire amount must be paid out.
